Abandoned Book Warehouse Mayhem In Bristol

The treasure hunters stand knee-deep in Danielle Steels, Len Deightons and Jeffrey Archers, hoping to find more exotic literary fare.
The scene is Brislington, Bristol, England. The event: clearing out an abandoned warehouse of books. The warehouse owner invited the public to help themselves when the book stock owners did not remove the books. See the Mail Online article for photographs of the mayhem. The warehouse was an Amazon.com supplier.

Strictly speaking the warehouse previously belonged to 'The Book Barns' who had relocated out of the city. What was left behind was mainly worthless stock that just would not have been worth moving to their other premises. The Book Barns, not quite an amazon supplier but one of the biggest 3rd party secondhand booksellers on amazon uk, have tried to disassociate themselves from the expired lease and stock left behind.
You'd probably be better off having a look for books in your local charity shop than take the trouble to visit after the doors have been open to the public for over a week now. Any books left are likely to be mouldy, damaged and practically worthless.
Though it must be said it provided a good story for a few national papers, though most of them did little or no investigation other than send a photographer.

Thanks for the clarification. I think the article mentioned it was a BookBarn site. I take it from your screen name that you're from that area. I'm glad you visited here.

Hmmm...tripping over each other or mold concerns? The photos looked a little chaotic but nothing like the Christmas rush at a Wal-Mart in the States where a clerk was trampled to death last year.
